Battle’s community volunteers continue to shine

With the Government’s lockdown entering its third week, households up and down the country are staying at home in a bid to help protect the NHS and save lives. This is a huge national effort for everyone, especially those extremely vulnerable individuals who need a little extra help in these difficult times.

Here in Battle, our wonderful community has shown strength and unity when it is really needed. Thanks to a fantastic response to the Council’s call for volunteers; a growing number of incredible individuals are generously giving their time and effort to help the vulnerable in our community to remain in their homes. In order to keep as many people as possible safe from this Pandemic, it is crucial we all adhere to the Government’s guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK.

Battle’s volunteer team have been successfully following Government instruction to maintain social distancing, whilst providing important services to those who require assistance. From collecting shopping and medicines to simply being a friendly voice at the end of the ‘phone, this incredible team are working hard to help support those that must stay at home for shielding against Covid-19.

We currently have a team of 93 who have been working over the last few weeks and this number is on the rise. If you are vulnerable and require help, or would like to join our group of volunteers please contact the Town Clerk, Carol Harris on: Email: enquiries@battletowncouncil.gov.uk

Telephone: 01424 772210 (Mon - Fri 9 - 2) / 07309 732536 (afternoons and weekends)

From Battle Town Council, a huge thank you to our volunteer team and indeed the wider community for adhering to social distancing rules and staying at home. Let’s all continue doing our part to fight COVID-19 and together, keep Battle safe.
